GOOD MORNING!
I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST AN INSPECTION OF THE ABOVE
BUILDING. IT APPEARS THAT AT THE REAR OF THE
BUILDING, THE TWO GARAGE DOORS HAVE BEEN ENCLOSED.
AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE OWNER, HE STATED THAT THE
MATERIAL IS “CONSTRUCTION GRADE” AND THEY ARE
PERMANENT AS HE WILL NOT BE USING THEM.
1. IS A PERMIT REQUIRED TO PERMANENTLY ENCLOSE
THESE 2 POINTS OF EGRESS
2. PLEASE ADVISE IF (IN YOUR OPINION) THE BOARDS
ON THE DOOR MEET THE CRITERIA ESTABLISHED IN
SECTION 47-43 OF TOWN CODE AS FOLLOWS: (5).
EXTERIOR DOORS. EVERY EXTERIOR DOOR SHALL BE
REASONABLY WEATHER-TIGHT, WATERTIGHT,
INSECT-PROOF, RODENT-PROOF, AND SHALL BE
MAINTAINED IN SOUND WORKING CONDITION AND GOOD
REPAIR. EVERY EXTERIOR DOOR SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH
PROPERLY INSTALLED HARDWARE THAT IS MAINTAINED TO
INSURE REASONABLE EASE OF OPERATION TO OPEN, CLOSE
AND SECURE IN AN OPEN OR CLOSED POSITION, AS
INTENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE DOOR AND THE
MANUFACTURER OF THE ATTACHED HARDWARE.
(6). EXTERIOR DOOR FRAMES. EVERY EXTERIOR DOOR
FRAME SHALL BE PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND SHALL BE
AFFIXED WITH WEATHERSTRIPPING AND THRESHOLDS AS
REQUIRED TO BE SUBSTANTIALLY WEATHER-TIGHT,
WATERTIGHT, RODENT-PROOF, AND INSECT-PROOF WHEN
THE DOOR IS IN A CLOSED POSITION. ADDITIONALLY:
EXTERIOR DOOR JAMBS, STOPS, HEADERS AND MOLDINGS
SHALL BE SECURELY ATTACHED TO THE STRUCTURE,
MAINTAINED IN GOOD CONDITION WITHOUT ROT,
SPLITTING OR DETERIORATION THAT WOULD MINIMIZE THE
STRENGTH AND SECURITY OF THE DOOR OR DOOR FRAME;
AND EVERY EXTERIOR DOOR AND DOOR FRAME SHALL BE
PROVIDED WITH THE ADEQUATE HARDWARE AND LOCKING
DEVICES TO SECURE DOOR AND DOOR FRAME WHICH WILL
REASONABLY PREVENT UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY, AND SHALL
BE MAINTAINED IN SOUND-WORKING CONDITION AND IN
GOOD REPAIR.
