RESIDENCE WITH WOOD SUB-FLOOR AND
HAND-FRAMED WOOD ROOF SYSTEM THAT HAS
SUFFERED EXTENSIVE FIRE DAMAGE. FIRE
APPARENTLY ORIGINATED IN REAR BATHROOM
AREA OF HOME AND CONSUMED THE WOOD
SUB-FLOOR AND FLOOR JOISTS IN THAT ROOM.
IT ALSO CONSUMED A PORTION OF THE
WOODFRAMED EXTERIOR WALL ON REAR OF
HOME. FIRE EXTENDED INTO ATTIC AREA
WHERE IT CONSUMED SEVERAL RAFTERS AND A
LARGE PORTION OF THE RIDGE BEAM AND
DAMAGED NEARLY ALL REMAINING RAFTERS.
WOOD ROOF DECK WAS CONSUMED IN LARGE
AREA WITH DAMAGE TO MORE THAN 50% OF
DECKING OF STRUCTURE. SMOKE AND WATER
DAMAGE ARE EXTENSIVE THROUGHOUT HOME.
ADDITIONAL; DAMAGE TO EXTERIOR WALL ON
THE WEST SIDE AND BROKEN WINDOWS HAS
OCCURRED THROUGH FIRE FIGHTING ACTIVITY.
THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS BEEN
DAMAGED AND COMPROMISED TO POINT OF
COMPLETE REPLACEMENT WOULD BE NEEDED.
THE PLUMBING SYSTEM HAS ALSO BEEN
DAMAGED AND COMPROMISED FROM FIRE AND
WOULD NEED NEARLY COMPLETE REPLACEMENT.
REHABILITATION OF THIS STRUCTURE WILL BE
A LEVEL 3 ALTERATION REQUIRING THAT ALL
STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS BE COMPLIANT WITH
CURRENT FLORIDA BUILDING CODE
REQUIREMENTS. THIS WOULD INCLUDE
FOUNDATION COMPONENTS. AS THIS LEVEL OF
ALTERATION IS REQUIRED IT WOULD NOT BE
FEASIBLE TO ATTEMPT RENOVATION SO
DEMOLITION AND REMOVAL FROM THE SITE IS
RECOMMENDED.
