Case Description
I WANTED TO SUBMIT A CONCERN ABOUT 100 MURRAY CT
NW IN PLACID LAKES.
THE PROPERTY HAS SAT VACANT FOR MANY YEARS. EVEN
BEEN BROKEN INTO AT ONE POINT. THE COMMUNITY HERE
KEEPS AN EYE ON IT AND MADE SURE TO SECURE THE
PROPERTY AFTER THE BREAK IN A FEW YEARS BACK.
SINCE THE OWNER DIED THE PROPERTY HAS BEEN GETTING
WORSE AND WORSE. SINCE IRMA 2 YEARS AGO IT HAS
REALLY TAKEN A TURN.
THE BANK WAS ABLE TO GO THROUGH THE FORECLOSURE
PROCESS AND HAS AT LEAST BEEN MOWING THE LAWN ON A
REGULAR BASIS. I WAS ABLE TO GET IN CONTACT WITH
THE AGENT HANDLING THE PROPERTY. I ADVISED THE
AGENT THAT THE ROOF TARP CAME LOOSE AND THAT A
COLONY OF BATS HAVE MADE IT HOME. BACK ON AUGUST
23 THE AGENT ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE
SOMEONE COME AND FIX THE ISSUES. NOTHING HAS
TRANSPIRED YET.
I LIVE ON MURRAY CT AND I HAVE ONLY SEEN THE LAWN
PEOPLE. THE TARP IS STILL LOOSE EXPOSING THE HOLE
IN THE ROOF AND THERE ARE SO MANY BATS IN THE
HOUSE THAT YOU CAN HEAR THEM SQUEEKING AND MOVING
AROUND FROM THE STREET. WITH ALL THIS BEING SAID,
YES THE PROPERTY IS A BIT OF AN EYESORE BUT MY
MAIN CONCERN IS THE POTENT SMELL OF BAT FECES
COMING FROM THE HOUSE. ON A HOT DAY I CAN'T EVEN
STAND AT THE CORNER TO GET MY SON OFF THE BUS. THE
SMELL IS SO BAD IT CARRIES THREE HOUSES DOWN. THE
SANITARY ASPECT IS SOMETHING OF A CONCERN AND
INHALING THE FECES SMELL CAN'T BE GOOD FOR
ANYONE'S HEALTH.
I'M NOT SURE IF THEY ARE BREAKING ANY CODES BUT
IT'S WORTH A LOOK.
THE AGENT GOT A LITTLE SNIPPY WITH ME THIS MORNING
WHEN I MENTIONED I HADN'T SEEN ANY ACTIVITY AT THE
PROPERTY IN REGARDS TO THE ISSUES AND THAT THE
COMMUNITY WAS GOING TO START COMPLAINING TO THE
TOWN. I WAS TOLD TO GIVE THE TOWN THEIR
INFORMATION AND AGAIN THAT "THEY WERE WORKING ON
IT".

POSTED NOTICE STATES THAT PROPERTY IS
OWNED BY THE SECRETARY OF VETERANS
AFFAIRS AND UNDER MANAGEMENT BY VENDOR
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT WITH A CONTACT
PERSON OF GREG MINERS (863-675-1973).
HOME IS IN SOUND STRUCTURAL CONDITION
BUT IN NEED OF REPAIRS. REPORTS OF BATS
HARBORING IN ATTIC OF PROPERTY CAN BE
CONFIRMED BY ERADICATION EFFORTS VISIBLE
ONSITE. MISSING ALUMINUM SOFFIT IN THE
OVERHANG HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH METAL
SCREENING WITH BOOT ATTACHED TO ALLOW
BATS TO EXIT BUT NOT RETURN. THE ROOF IS
TARPED ON THE EAST SIDE AND ENTIRE ROOF
NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE HOME IS LOCKED
AND SECURE EXCEPT FOR THE OVERHEAD
GARAGE DOOR WHICH WAS IN THE DOWN
POSITION BUT UNLOCKED. INTERIOR
INSPECTION SHOWS HOME IN GOOD CONDITION.
PORTIONS OF THE DRYWALL CEILING HAVE
BEEN REMOVED AND DEBRIS CLEANED FROM THE
SITE. FROM THESE LARGE AREAS OF CEILING
VISUAL INSPECTION OF ATTIC AREA SHOWED
NO SIGN OF REMAINING BATS. THE SMELL OF
FECES STILL REMAINS BUT WAS NOT OVERLY
OFFENSIVE. I AM CERTAIN THAT GIVEN TIME
MANAGEMENT COMPANY WILL MAKE REPAIRS
VERMIN ABANDON IS CONFIRMED. I WILL SEND
A COPY OF THIS REPORT TO CODE
ENFORCEMENT SO THEY CAN FORWARD O
MANAGEMENT COMPANY TO INFORM THAT A
PERMIT WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE ROOF
REPLACEMENT AND TO REQUEST THAT WHEN
THIS PERMIT IS APPLIED FOR THAT THIS
CASE BE NOTED SO INSPECTION OF CEILING
REPAIRS CAN BE DONE ALONG WITH ROOF
INSPECTIONS TO CLOSE THIS CASE.
