THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT RECEIVED A
COMPLAINT FROM THE TENANT LIVING AT 3032
DESOTO RD, WHICH I, ROBERT SZOKA, WENT
TO INVESTIGATE ON JULY 25, 2013. THE
TENANT, SHARON JONES, INVITED ME IN TO
THE UNIT AT WHICH POINT I WAS
OVERWHELMED BY A VERY STRONG URINE ODOR
OF WHAT SEEMED TO BE FROM SEVERAL CATS.
THE CARPET IS SO BAD, THAT CLEANING WILL
NEVER OBLITERATE THE SMELL OF URINE. THE
CARPET REALLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
I OBSERVED A MULTITUDE OF DEAD TERMITE
BODIES AND WINGS FROM SWARMING TERMITES
IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT LOCATIONS IN THE
UNIT. MOST WERE OBSERVED AROUND THE
WINDOWS IN THE UNIT. I WAS SHOWN A
REPORT FROM AN EXTERMINATOR STATING THAT
TERMITES WERE IN THE FLOOR JOISTS AND
THE FLOORBOARDS. IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE
THEY ARE IN THE WALLS ALSO, BECAUSE OF
THE EVIDENCE OF SWARMING AT THE
WINDOWS.
I WAS ALSO SHOWN WEAK SPOTS IN THE
FLOOR IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS, WHICH COULD
GIVE WAY AT ANY TIME. I ALSO OBSERVED
PLACES IN THE CEILING WHERE IT APPEARS
THAT THE ROOF HAS LEAKED. IT LOOKS LIKE
MOLD FORMING, ALTHOUGH I AM NOT A
CERTIFIED MOLD INSPECTOR.
IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE LIVING
CONDITIONS ARE SO DEPLORABLE THAT NOBODY
SHOULD BE LIVING IT THIS UNIT,
ESPECIALLY A DISABLED PERSON WITH ASTHMA
HAVING TO USE OXYGEN.
THIS UNIT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE RENTED
AGAIN UNTIL CORRECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE
AND HAS BEEN RE-INSPECTED.
