04-20-201208:39 AMINITIAL INSPECTIONI WENT TO THE SITE AND FOUND A
MULTI-UNIT APARTMENT BUILDING. I MET
WITH THE TENANT IN UNIT 111 AND SHE
SHOWED ME THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: 1-
CRACKS AT THE WALL AND CEILING JOINT AND
CRACKS IN THE EXTERIOR BLOCK WALL. SHE
HAS FILLED MOST OF THESE ALREADY SINCE
THE OWNER HAS FAILED TO DO ANY REPAIRS.
2- HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE KITCHEN
SINK CABINENT WHERE SHE SAYS RATS AND
ROACHES COME AND GO FROM ONE APARTMENT
TO THE OTHER. 3- LOOSE PIECES OF SMALL
1"X1" FLOOR TILE IN THE BATHROOM AND
SHOWER AREA. THESE TILES NEED TO BE
REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH NEW TILE TO
EVEN THE FLOOR AREA. ALSO THERE ARE TWO
AREAS IN THE SHOWER AREA WHERE THERE IS
EXPOSED METAL WIRE LATH. THIS NEEDS TO
BE PLASTERED OVER TO SEAL THE OPEN HOLES
IN THE WALL. (305.16.2) 4- THE REAR
DOOR HAS A LARGE GAP UNDER THE BOTTOM OF
THE DOOR WHERE THE RUBBER GASKET HAS
ROTTED OFF. THIS NEEDS TO BE
REPAIRED/REPLACED TO SEAL OFF FROM THE
OUTSIDE AND PREVENT RODENTS AND ROACHES
FROM ENTERING THE HOME. (305.11.1) AS I
LEFT THE APARTMENT A MAN INTRODUCED
HIMSELF AS THE OWNER AND ASKED WHAT THE
PROBLEM WAS. I WENT OVER THE COMPLAINTS
WITH HIM AND HE SAID HE WOULD "LOOK INTO
IT". I WILL SEND A COPY OF THIS REPORT
TO HIM WITH A LETTER ASKING HIM TO
COMPLY WITH THE STANDARD HOUSING CODE TO
AVOID FURTHER PROBLEMS WITH CODE
ENFORCEMENT.
